Behold in a dream of the night did I meet a man ...and the man was very ordinary ... as one might meet anywhere in the world ...of the world ...and he showed me all the works of man ...and the thoughts ...activities of man and mans desires ...(never was God mentioned)..
And he showed me how man had provided peace safety and happiness for himself ...and that he (as a man) had power from birth to death ...of healing, against fire, over war ....all by the power of wealth ...money ...and of teachings; over children unto death ...even spiritual ....by money, power and mass media ...so that any man could live at peace and safety in the "light of this world"
and that all was well with man through the institutions and organizations he had set up ...all had insurance ...lived in goodly houses went to work, school, and to church... all had insurance... that no one had to worry
....and I was amazed ...at the power of this worldly man ...and he seemed to me to be a lord (small l) of the world ...and I asked...lord (again small l) what is your name?
And he said: "Satan"
and even as Jesus said to Peter for his "own thinking" ...
Then he charged his disciples, that they should tell no man, that he was Jesus Christ. From that time forth, Jesus began to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders, and of the high Priests, and of the Scribes, and must be killed, and rise again the third day. But Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him saying: master, favour thyself, this shall not come unto thee. Then turned he about, and said unto Peter: come after me Satan thou offendest me, because thou savourest not godly things, but worldly things.
Jesus then said to his disciples. If any man will follow me let him forsake himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever will save his life, shall *loose it. And whosoever shall *loose his life for my sake, shall find it. What shall it profit a man, though he should win all the whole world if he *loose his own soul? Or else what shall a man give to redeem his soul again with all? For the son of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his angels: and then shall he reward every man according to his deeds. Verily I say unto you, some there be among them that here stand, which shall not taste of death, till they shall have seen the son of man come in his kingdom.*loose: exactly as it appears: loose from the Hebrew is to "open".
