and the house was without paint ...neither had it been painted ...even looked like it had never been painted ...
and from within ...from within the house ...was shown me a door way ...and the door led out of the house ...and was wide open ...
and in the door way was an young man ...in his youth ...and he had on old clothes ...
and the clothes were not just old of age ...yet even were made for an older person ...and the clothes covered the youth as though he was old ...yet he was not ...
and his shoes were of an older man also ...and did not fit him tightly ...and where soever he walked ...his shoes did sound like clippedly clop ...clippedly clop ...clippedly clop ...
and others would laugh him to scorn ...and mock him ...and call after him ...clippedly clop ...clippedly clop ...mocking his poverty ...
Nevertheless the youth stood in the doorway ...of the house with no paint ...and looked back within ...within the house ...
and as the youth looked through the doorway ...he remembered all that was of the house afore ...for it was the house he had lived in much of his life ...and living ...and now was he leaving ..
and a woman appeared in the doorway ...and she looked upon the boy ...and was sad at his leaving ...
and the boy knew that the woman had chosen another man ...to be her husband ...another man ...who was not his father ...and of that was the boy leaving ...for the husband that the woman had chosen ...could not abide the boys presence ...in the house ...
and the boy ...looked at the woman ...and said within himself ...poor woman...
and the boy looked beyond the woman and upon the husband she had chosen ...and said within himself ...poor man ...
Now as he left ...he passed the door of another house ...that same unpainted from the beginning ...
and yet within the family was whole ...of husband and wife and daughter ...
though the husband was not at home ...and was bound to wicked labor ...all the days and some of the nights of his life and living ...
and the wicked labor and his being bound to it ...allowed for evil to creep into his house and home ...and his living ...and life ...
Now the daughter stood in the doorway of the house and waved at the boy ...and said to him ...that she had hoped to leave the poverty of the place ...and had practiced singing ...and she thought that she could sing ...
and that there was a place where she would get paid to sing ...that they might be rich ...
and an wicked and vile grievous man appeared ...and he had afore spoken beguiling to the mother of promised riches ...and now to the daughter ...about the thing ....of her singing ..in his place ...where people drank in spirits and men were innertained ...
and when the boy was about to speak ...the mother came an snatched the daughter back ...and closed the door ...to the house ...
now as the door ...to the house closed ...did the boy see the vile man sitting in the house ...and beguiling the womens ...
and the boy thought ...poor daughter ...poor woman ...poor house ...
and poor husband ....
and as the boy walked forth and along his way ...
all in and of the world of the worldly ...even unto the end ...said oh look what a poor boy ...
